K.C.RAVEENDRANATHAN et al: A NEW CLASS OF ANFIS BASED CHANNEL EQUALIZERS

چکیده
System modelling based on conventional mathematical tools like differential equations is not well suited for dealing with ill-defined and uncertain systems. By contrast, a fuzzy inference system, employing fuzzy if–then rules can model the qualitative aspects of human knowledge and reasoning processes without employing precise quantitative analyses. This fuzzy modeling or fuzzy identification explored by Takagi and Sugeno, has found numerous practical applications in control, prediction and inference. However there are some basic aspects of this approach which are in need of better understanding. More specifically, no standard methods exist for optimally transforming human knowledge or experience into the rule base and database of a fuzzy inference system. There is a need for effective methods for tuning the membership functions (MFs) so as to minimize the output error measure or maximize performance index. In this perspective, a novel architecture called Adaptive Network Based Fuzzy Inference System (ANFIS) which can serve as a basis for constructing a set of fuzzy if–then rules with appropriate membership functions to generate the stipulated input–output pairs, is taken up by Jang. We in this paper present a class of novel channel equalizers based on the ANFIS architecture. KeywordsSystem Modelling, Channel Equalization, ANFIS, System Identification, Radial Basis Function.

On the equivalence of blind equalizers based on MRE and subspace intersections
Two classes of algorithms proposed for the blind equalization of multiple channels driven by a single source are the Mutually Referenced Equalizers (MRE) method by Gesbert et al., and the Subspace Intersection (SSI) method by Van der Veen et al. Although these methods seem at first sight unrelated, we show here that a variant of the SSI method and a particular member in the class of MRE methods...
متن کاملOn the Practical Aspects of Joint Passive Phase Conjugation and Equalization Underwater Communication Systems
Underwater acoustic communication systems suffer from the channel impairments which results in time spreading of the transmitted signal. In underwater environment, multiple replicas of the transmitted signal are received at the receiver through different paths, which causes significant Inter-Symbol Interference (ISI). Decision Feedback Equalizers (DFE) was utilized to overcome this type of inte...
متن کاملA new approach for fabrication of bulk MMCs using Accumulative Channel-die Compression Bonding (ACCB)
A new severe plastic deformation (SPD) based technique entitled Accumulative channel-die compression bonding (ACCB) is proposed for the fabrication of high strength multi-layered Al/Cu composites for the first time. In order to primarily demonstrate the capabilities of ACCB in the fabrication of metal matrix composites (MMCs), AA 1050 and pure Cu strips were processed. The primary Al/Cu sandwic...
متن کاملSome New Properties of the Searching Probability
Consider search designs for searching one nonzero 2- or 3-factor interaction under the search linear model. In the noisy case, search probability is given by Shirakura et al. (Ann. Statist. 24(6) (1996) 2560). In this paper some new properties of the searching probability are presented. New properties of the search probability enable us to compare designs, which depend on an unknown parameter ?...
متن کاملBlind channel equalization with colored sources based on second-order statistics: a linear prediction approach
We consider the blind equalization and estimation of single-user, multichannel models from the second-order statistics of the channel output when the channel input statistics are colored but known. By exploiting certain results from linear prediction theory, we generalize the algorithm of Tong et al., which was derived under the assumption of a white transmitted sequence. In particular, we show...
